the team

Our team for SouthPole consists of three determined adventurers, all with a background of working within health imaging. We already have a great team spirit - this challenge has bonded us even further. We, and the rest of our friends and colleagues, are extremely excited about racing in the far South and pushing ourselves to find our true limits.

With such a high profile event, we feel it was a perfect opportunity for us to raise money for such a deserving charity and are proud to support the work of the RCDM.

Ian WilsonI am a 43 year old PACS Manager. Since reading a book about Roald Amundsen as a child, I've always aspired to visiting arctic/polar regions. I've been to Iceland several times and trekked out from the main glacier Vatnajokul to the coast. The trip to the magnetic North Pole made me eager to visit the South Pole. I'm an active alpine mountaineer, caver and hill runner and love competitive adventure events.
To complete this challenge would give me the opportunity to visit one of the few last wilderness regions of the world whilst giving me another chance to push myself to the limit.

Bill NortonI am a 44 year old Radiographer working for University Hospital Birmingham Trust. I have always enjoyed competitive events and am absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to compete in this once in a lifetime challenge.
I am currently training for the 2010 Iron Bridge Triathlon and I enjoy playing all sports including football, squash, badminton and tennis. I enjoy adventure activities such as caving and have recently taken part in the Three Peaks Challenge and the Tough Guy Race. I am also a professional musician looking for inspiration for my next song. I really enjoy travelling and can’t wait to take part in this great adventure & raise money for the RCDM.

Craig McDougallI am a 33 year old Military Radiographer currently serving at the Royal Centre of Defence Medicine in Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham.
Having served over fourteen years in the British Army I have had the pleasure to travel and partake in military and adventure training across the world, however the challenge of walking to the south pole exceeds any previously set goals.
The opportunity to raise what I hope is a substantial sum of money for charities supporting injured comrades is its self the motivation required to reach the south pole! In order to keep myself active I enjoy all things aqua and am a qualified swimming teacher, pool and beach lifeguard as well as a keen scuba diver and waterpolo player. In addition to the usual military training I also enjoy gliding and skiing where possible.
